Last night was not only the opening night of the 137th Annual Royal Ulster Academy Exhibition, but a highlight in mine and many other artists’ careers I’m sure, as I had the pleasure of showing off a piece from my Steamy Windows collection.
Being accepted into the Exhibition is an honour. To be recognised by my peers at the Royal Ulster Academy is what it is all about.
To have your work endorsed and recognised by them is something that I simply never thought would happen in my wildest dreams and I cannot thank the Academy enough for the privilege and opportunity.
What a tremendous night it was, with a huge turn out of people there to see the original works of so many talented artists of different varieties including sculptors, painters, photographers and videographers to name a few.
It is well worth the visit to the museum to see such amazing examples of talent under one roof and the staff there deserve enormous gratitude for their hard work.
Having been shortlisted a few times in the past, this was my first time to exhibit at this prestigious event and I was delighted, to say the least, to have found out that my piece ‘Walkies in Colour’ sold on opening night!
The 137th annual exhibition of the Royal Ulster Academy takes place from October 19th 2018 until January 6th 2019 at the Ulster Museum in the Botanic Gardens, Belfast.
